Hopper....Acrylic resin, 110cm, 2002

The manipulation of scale in ‘Hopper’ is a key element to it’s understanding. A sober looking businessman is reduced to the size of a child, and is shown playing on a space hopper. The simple activity of play, bouncing around and having fun, hints at a desire to escape the pressure of adult life. In this sense I see it as commenting on the child within us all.
